Research Proposals

just thought it would be cool to suggest that we post our research proposals on our blogs, (and love to see your bibliographies for maybe common ideas) you may already be planning to tho, as talking to some of you its seems people would like to engage in more debate with each other, share ideas, artists, etc and blogs could be one way of this :) I don't know about you lot but feel I have a fair idea of what everyone is thinking but as we haven't had an opportunity in the all consuming frenzy of the group project to discuss our work together since our first presentations, would love to be doing this on and offline lots more- and with the other performance based MA-ers- tell me to behave but just feeling in a good creative place this term and want to keep that going!

group project presentation meeting

hope everyone was feeling good (if knackered )after hand in yesterday-way-hey!!

are we all ok to meet up next thurs, 10th at 10am to discuss and assign roles for putting our group project together? probably needs to be the canteen unless anyone has other suggestions, anyway somewhere to spread all the stuff out and review it etc (I for one am not sure exactly what everyones process work consists of). we may not need to meet as a whole for very long to map out the presentation content but may break into smaller groups if thats what suits our ideas I guess.

this means after handing in on the weds 9.30am we have the day to assemble our own group project material (lena suggestion which i think is good rather than just meeting on the weds)

doug also mentioned in an email to me he wanted everyone to put "an evaluative post on their Blog to assist with the feedback session."

also thought it would be good for people to, ahead of the meeting, comment on/think about dougs suggestion he sent on email to us all;

"I suggest for the collective project that you guys divide into small groups-- one team to edit the footage, one to put together a graphic compilation and one to edit the texts. This is only a suggestion it's up to you as a group to devise the best method, using your skills, to compile the material effectively."

doug also mentioned in an email in which i was asking about this project, that neil with his graphics skills could be excellent to lead the portfolio or even with a team- i think this is a great use of neils skills personally, thoughts? are we wanting a printed portfolio of process work plus a dvd? last years group did both.

if we think about the skills we want to share here and method to split the workload? like corrine suggested are we collating FM work separately?

anyway- just some thoughts. see you all thursday- the only people who i didn't speak to about this was corinne (and lucy if you want to be involved- maybe editing or you may have other suggestions?) - is this ok?

NRLA- Glasgow 6th-10th Feb

just to let you know in case anyone was fancying it- the easy jet flights london gatwick to glasgow are currently 35 quid on big sale- think its only a few more days though, laura and i are flying up on the weds 10th to see caroline smith and julia bardsley and also things on fire (the galapagos man) from last years MA is sat 9th- as well as lots of other interesting looking stuff- doug said he wasa going up too. we're coming back sunday, not booked a hostel yet....

would be fab if others fancied it too!! maybe we could do something performative ourselves...hmmmmm

PAPER-
lucy shot footage, theres the family portrait and story footage, andrew, rebecca, lena and I all have taken images, plus also the corinne, neil and stevie paper video

some sort of dvd could be good along side our blog?

plus also all our FM work- maybe we should have 2 sections to a dvd one of PAPER and one with examples of the FM work we each made, commentary etc etc

wow so on the case - guys looks like you did an amazing job and i hear it was a good night ! I think the documentation of the group project and FM should definately be separate the FM stuff is something separate altogether- and maybe we can document our experiences of that individually and wholly at a later stage -i know that its going to be a busy time when we get back getting everything ready for the assement stage - i'm going to want to be pulling together my own work as well installing it and the group project and critical studies....blah blah.

I have a lot of other footage of the video peice - some of when i started to work on it by myself then the first draft when neil and stevie and i were all working on it together as well as the finished peice - some very funny out takes - i've also got some nice stills of the studio in progress (in addition to the one's here) as well as some sketches etc that i know everyone else must have too so i'm sure we can cobble them together into something lovely! don't have the photo's with me so will have to wait until i'm back in old blighty

massive well done again!
